(27th Saturday continued) and blackberries that i could eat. Stopped at nearly all of the houses along the road to buy some milk and bread but could get none passed through broad Rm[?] and Frankville. arrived on the banks of the Potomac about half past one PM. Watered the teams and had some coffee crossed on pontoon bridges at Edwards ferry about five PM the river here is about 500 yards wide and [illegible] five [illegible] feet deep. there was two bridges across. One across Goose creek and from there across the river and the other one straight across. One of our mule teams went overboard while crossing only lost one barrel of port. Parked on the hill about ¾ of a mile form the river. [illegible]
