26th Friday. Was woke up about two o’clock and after getting all ready we did not start untill [sic] half past four after we got started came quite fast. passed through a place called the frying pan and another called [illegible] or [illegible] station and drainsville two miles from balls bluff rained steady all day. very muddy and nasty traveling the country seems to be better and more cultivated than what we have seen before. Stopped and parked for the night about half a mile from dramesville and about 100 yards from the brigade. Issued one days rations. There was four men drummed out of camp to night It is said that we are going to edwards ferry. 8 miles distant
