August 13th Thursday rained quite hard during last night and this morning but very pleasant during the rest of the day Issued one days rations. There is no news of any kind 14th Friday Quite warm today. There is to be a man shot today his name is Co 5th Maine Vols 2nd Brigade of our division, his crime is desertion to and giving phe rebels information. The execution is to take palce between here and new baltimore. about miles from here. the whole division goes to see it I had the priviledge of but would not go
