July 1863 1st Wensday The weather is very pleasant today, In the morning I went and had a bath and put on clean clothes. Issued one days ration of whiskey fresh meat coffee sugar bread. About six pm we got orders to go back to spring mills. Went very fast. when near westminister. stopped just long enough to feed and water the team while they was eating I went in the town and bought some fresh bread. After the team got through eating started and passed through the town and arrived at spring mills about one pm. Parked on a hill about half a mile from the mill.
