May 14th Thursday
Got ready and started from headquarters about 7 AM There was four of us started together walked to falmouth Station and after waiting there about two hours we got started rode down to aquia Creek in an open car. The 133rd penn V was on the train. It was very crowded passed potomac creek hospitals and Brook’s Station hospitals. Saw Auther Knox at Brook Station. Arrived at aquia Creek about 12 M got on the boat and started at half past one. during the passage it showered very hard passed for t washington Mount Vernon. Stopped at Alexandria a few minutes went on to and arrived at Washington. went in an eating saloon and got three stews for which i paid thirty cents each. I thought that it was a pretty big [illegible], Bought my ticket at the depot for eight dollars and a quarter. Got on the car and started at half past six. The car was crowded. While going across the river at Havre de grace went in the refreshment car and got some fried oyster and coffee for thirty five cents arrived at Philadelphia one hour behind time. Took the horse cars and rode about four miles in them. got on the cars again and came right through to Newark got there at about half past six.
