April 14th Tuesday
Clear and pleasant today The balloon was up nearly all day. Issued eight days of coffee and sugar five days hard[?] Bread and three days Pork to the brigade. The men are ordered to turn in their overcoats. Small pieces of red flannel and in this shape is given to all the officers and men to wear on top of their caps. Officers sales quite heavy today, the most of them buying hams sugar coffee and hard bread
