Reville [sic] at 4 AM. Commenced marching at six AM passed through stafford court house. I went in the courthouse the windows was all broken out and the walls was all marked up and names wrote on them we crossed the aquia creek railroad at stafford station near brooks station. we passed near bell plain landing and saw the river and steamboats. The road all along was full of troops. We passed a pontoon train the boats was all loaded on the wagons. we marched about fifteen miles today a great many fell out. we got on the wrong road once and marched about three miles out of the way. we camped about three o’clock about three miles from the Rappahannock. Lieut Shimer stayed with us at night.
