Cloudy and some rain
Issued two days rations
very heavy aptettery (sic) firing
at night in the direction
of Fort Darling or
dutch gap Canal
No mail today
24th Tuesday
Clear and very pleasant
No issue Sales very light
two mails today
the firing heard yesterday
and last night proved
to be rebel ram trying
to get down the river
but they was all blown
up or destroyed
