June 4th Saturday
Clear in the morning but cloudy with light rain in the afternoon. About three oclock started to the front to issue three days rations. Just as we were leaving park we met the first and third regiments. Coming in to go home they are a happy set of fellows. Issued just where we did before in an open field in front of Coal Harbor tavern. Got through issuing about eleven oclock and came back to the _____ hospital to park till morning. Capt. Converse(?) got in ____ a ham from the white house.
