Break through our lines but they met with such a (warm?) reception that they soon fell back. Our brigade has been engaged this afternoon and lost very heavily. Capt. ____ ____ of the eighth(?) is said to be killed. Sergt. _____ of my corps is killed a great many more. Got back to ____ at three oclock. Just then the ____ were ordered to ____ ____.
