9th Friday
Last night at half past Eleven was called up to send three days rations out. After getting the train out I went back to bed and slept until four oclock When I started out with one wagon. Stopped in harper ferry and drew soft bread overlook the train that went out last night to charlestown. found the brigade about two miles this side ~of berryville. got through issuing at dark. Then went about a mile to the 3rd NY Cav of Le father, the train parked for the night about three miles in the rear of the Brigade
*Transcriber's note: Gordon must have meant 3rd N.J. Cavalry (also known as "39th New
Jersey Volunteers"). Source: Dyer's Compendium, val. II, pages 1354 and 1372.
