6th Friday
Very clear and pleasant today. About eight oclock this morning went out to the front with Capt Converse ad about a dozen others. Got outside of the ____ and was fired ____ by the rebels. Went to the ____ hospital. Saw a good many wounded. Saw ____ brigade of negroes and some of the third cavalry. The musketry(?) was awful at three today. Very little artillery firing as they can not get in position. Issued some rations to the hospital. About eight oclock at night we received orders to ___ and be ready to move at a moments notice. All fire(?) and lights had to be put out. Got started about three oclock in the morning.
