May 30 Tuesday
Clear and pleasant. Moved at five a.m. our division has the right of the column. Marched thru the town with colors flying and bands playing. __ Russell and myself went out towards White Oak Church. Very hard marching today. The roads are very bad. Camped on the Potomac River. After marching twenty miles went in camp about two o'clock. Order to move at four in the morning .
