May 23 Tuesday
Clear and very warm. Sent my wagons to Richmond after stores orders to move at five o'clock in the morning. The troops march in company front through the streets of the city. The supply trains go on the Mechanicsville Road and the troops on a road to the left of that[.] orders carne today to have our discharges made out so we could be mustered out on our arrival at Washington[.] Lieut. Woodruff called on me today[.] Mart Kintner gave me a mourning badge. Issued one days rations
