(June 27th Saturday continued) rations. train went back to the ferry and drew Pork hard Bread coffee sugar and hams. I have been very busy since we stopped here putting up the office tent, Issuing rations around tending to officers sales untill [sic] 9 PM. We are ordered to march at four in the morning. There is light artillery planted behind us to [illegible] the bridge I suppose. Rained a little din the morning but clear in the afternoon. We have been in brig since nearly eight months and have accomplished nothing We have lost a great many men and are now back in Maryland not as well as when we left it on the 2nd of November last It is very discouraging but we hope for the best.
