27th Wensday [sic] Clear but not very warm Chas Simpson was promoted from fifth tho fourth Sergenant [sic]. Theodore Woodruff was promoted from corperal [sic] to fifth Sergenant [sic] and Martin Kintner from private to corperal [sic]. I am very glad to hear of my friends promotions and hope that they may never be reduced but keep going on steadily up. was over to the company at night. the paymaster arrived today and paid the third regiment. The fifteenth will be paid to morrow. I Signed the pay rolls today. James Kelly is corperal [sic] of the guard today. this being the first days duty that he has done since the early part of January last he having Broke his hand at that time
