B. Woodruff and Oakley B. Rellett. In afternoon Martin Ryerson made a speech about the allotment system. Signed the roll for Government bounty.</text>

Have orders to fix up tents for it is expected that we'll stay here untill fall. The 1st Regt  at the depot the town is strictly guarded no wagons are allowed to pass through it they have to go around the outside. It is the most bitter secesh place that I ever saw. Gen Torbert has the whole control of the town. He has appointed Col Brown of the 3rd Regt Provost Marshal Issued one days rations the regimental wagons come to the commissary after the rations this is an awful hot day.</text>
