It was the virginia herald and it contained an appeal from the governor [sic] of the state to all that was loyal to the confederate cause to bring forth all the Clothing that they could spare for the soldiers for they were in a destitute condition. It also stated that tea sold in Richmond for ten dollars and fifty cents a pound and a small quantity of salt was sold by the pound at the rate of over three hundred dollars a sack and sugar was sixty eight cents a pound.
